Everyone wants youthful vibrant skin no matter what their age, but the fact is that time does a job on your skin. If you really want to make sure your skin stays as healthy and young-looking as possible, you need to start taking steps to care for your skin early on.
Here are six anti-aging tips to help you remain beautiful and youthful throughout your life. Taking care of your skin early will allow you to age gracefully and mature like a fine wine.
1. To keep your skin healthy you will need to exfoliate regularly. Exfoliation involves micro-abrasive substances being rubbed onto your skin. The substance clears away dead skin, and dirt and deep cleans pores. When done as part of a spa treatment, exfoliation can be a simply divine experience which is its own reward. But you don’t have to go to a spa to get the exfoliation treatment. There are many over-the-counter products available currently that allow you to exfoliate at home – saving you time and money.
2. Use a quality moisturizer. Moisturizing the skin allows it to shine throughout the day and can help to strengthen it for the rigors it will face, such as sun and wind. Every day our skin is bombarded by harmful chemicals and substances that work to speed up the aging process, moisturizing can slow the onslaught.
3. While it is important to moisturize your skin from the outside, don’t forget to keep hydrated to provide moisture from the inside out as well. The AMA recommends at least eight glasses of water every day. Proper hydration will give your skin the water that its cells need to repair or regenerate itself.
4. For the health of your skin, it is important that you use a high SPF sunblock whenever you step outdoors – summer and winter. The sun is your skin’s worst enemy and sunblock will act like a wall between the two. Regular use of sunblock can prevent age spots from appearing, or lessen their impact after they do. Sunblock not only keeps your skin young-looking but can also protect against skin cancer.
5. Get a good night’s sleep, every night. Sleep is the time the body uses to repair itself from the previous day’s activities and to prepare for the oncoming ones the next day. If healthy skin is important to you, make sure that you are getting your doctor's recommended eight hours of sleep every night. Getting adequate sleep is a great preventative to reduce the effects of aging, and as the old saying goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
6. The beneficial effects of many commercial skin care products are due to the high vitamin content in their ingredients. Complement the use of vitamins externally on your skin by taking a multivitamin daily to supply the vitamins internally that your skin needs to re-grow. When it comes to your skin, too much of a good thing is a very good thing.
